5 great getaways to help you unwind
Have you taken all of your vacation time this year? You might be surprised to know that many people don’t take all the days they’re entitled to. But getting downtime away from work and everyday responsibilities is good for your health – it helps you function better, feel healthier, and be more productive. And what’s better for a little relaxation than some time at a spa?
Here are a few of our favourite spa destinations (both near and far) to give you the break you need and deserve.

We love The Wickaninnish Inn, an oceanside hotel that will have you perfectly pampered. Their restaurant offers 240 degree ocean views, farm-fresh, organic, locally-sourced ingredients, and a fantastic wine list. Their spa offers yoga, massage, acupressure, thalassotherapy, aesthetics and a variety of signature treatments. And if that isn’t enough to sway you, the Inn was recently ranked #1 on the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2015 list of Top Resorts in Canada.
Hot Springs, Arkansas
This Arkansas city is a hotbed of mineral pools and healing waters, with Hot Springs National Park located right downtown. Try the Buckstaff Bathhouse – it’s an old-school experience where individual tubs are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Or check out the Quapaw Baths and Spa for a more modern option that also offers massages and other spa services.
Hefei City, Anhui Province, China
This beautiful city is the ancestral home of the North Song Dynasty and the location of some of the country’s top mountain spa resorts. Bantang Spa Resort is perfect for those looking for therapeutic baths, as the area is rich with geothermal activity. With hot and cold spring water containing over 30 minerals, a long, hot soak among gorgeous mountain vistas is an experience that’s good for both the body and the soul.
Saratoga Springs, New York
Only three hours from New York City, this charming upstate town is home to Roosevelt Baths and Spa. Founded in 1935, the hydrotherapy spa offers full-service options including massages and body scrubs. For a premium experience, stay at the Gideon Putnam, which is the only hotel located right in Sarasota Springs State Park; after being pampered in the spa, you can walk, bike and hike through 2000 acres of natural beauty.
Lake Louise, Alberta

Originally built as a base for skiers over 100 years ago, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is now a year-round luxury resort. Surrounded by snow-topped mountains and a one-of-a-kind emerald lake, the resort is consistently ranked one of the top 10 in the country with a world-class spa and unsurpassed views.
