Regulating professional activities that may be engaged by a medical electrophysiology technologist

On September 28, 2016, the draft Regulation respecting the professional activities that may be engaged in by a medical electrophysiology technologist under the Professional Code was published in the Gazette officielle du Québec for comment.

The draft Regulation allows a medical electrophysiology technologist, holding a training certificate to perform echocardiography or vascular ultrasonography, to administer contrast substances and to insert an instrument in a peripheral vein for the purpose of administering a contrast substance, following the issue of a prescription and when an examination requires it. To engage in such activities, a medical electrophysiology technologist will have to successfully complete theoretical training and clinical training.

We are reviewing the draft regulation and will provide an update if there are any impacts.
