BC Medical Services Plan premiums dropping January 1, 2018
As of January 1, 2018, BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) premiums will drop by 50% for all British Columbians. The BC government is hoping to eliminate these premiums over the next four years.
Currently, under the BC Medicare Protection Act, all residents of BC must enrol in the MSP. They have the option to pay for their premiums either through self-administered accounts or through their employer if they have an MSP Group plan set up.
For plan sponsors that have Manulife assist in the administration and coordination of the BC MSP, we have updated our system to reflect the new rates.
If you have any questions regarding the change, contact your Manulife Representative.
You can also find additional information on this change on the BC MSP site.
