Starting a family is a goal for many of us, but this journey can be challenging for a variety of reasons. When family planning becomes complex, the emotional, physical, and financial impacts can be felt at home and at work.
Employees may be hesitant to share the challenges they are facing but an inclusive and supportive workplace can help them navigate family planning and its related challenges.
Introducing fertility coverage
To help you support your employees in reaching their goal to start a family, we’re launching the fertility treatment benefit. This benefit provides coverage for fertility treatments at Canadian fertility clinics.
Meaningful support for employees
With 1 in 6 couples in Canada experiencing infertility1 – a number that has doubled in the last 40 years – and single-parents or same sex couples looking to grow their families, employers can play a meaningful role in helping members plan for their family.
Fertility treatments can be stressful, costly, and come with many unknowns.
Research from the American Psychiatric Association2 found men and women experience higher levels of anxiety and depression during in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other fertility treatments, compared to the general population.
Invest in success
Speak to your Manulife representative about the options available to add fertility coverage to your plan.
There is no national plan covering IVF and other fertility services in Canada. Limited provincial coverage may be available for treatment or in the form of a tax credit.
Comprehensive coverage of fertility treatments is not standard in Canada. Some provinces offer limited coverage for fertility treatments.
