Investment Style
Seamark’s equity style is characterized by a fundamental bottom-up approach that identifies high quality companies of value for long term investment. Seamark considers a balanced fund to be a distinct specialty assignment in which two fundamental asset classes, equities and fixed-income, are managed. The firm manages total assets in excess of $6 billion.

Peter Marshall’s portfolio management capability is based on more than thirty years of investment experience, which prior to 1982 was acquired working for investment organizations in Montreal and Toronto including: Midland Osler Securities Ltd., Jones Heward Ltd., G. Tower Ferguson Ltd., and Bolton Tremblay Inc. He has a broad background in corporate finance, municipal bond underwriting, equity research and portfolio management. Before founding Seamark Asset Management in 1982 (originally as Elliott & Page Atlantic), Peter was Vice-President, Atlantic Provinces at a Toronto-based investment counselling firm where he was responsible for the management of investment portfolios which included the firm’s Atlantic-based clientele. Peter achieved a ten-year first quartile performance record for his clients. Peter was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Seamark in 1996. Peter leads the Seamark portfolio management team in setting policy and strategy, participates in the research process and client servicing. Peter is from Middleton, Nova Scotia, and is a Commerce graduate of Dalhousie University.


Robert G. McKim, President, Chief Operating Officer
BBA, CFA
Bob McKim has in excess of twenty years of investment experience. Bob began his career at a major New Brunswick utility company working with the Pension Fund, progressing to Senior Financial Analyst positions. Bob was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1981. In early 1984, he established a financial planning business in Saint John, and he was issued an Investment Counsel license by the Province of New Brunswick. Bob joined Seamark in September 1984 and became a shareholder in 1985. He was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in January 1996. Bob is part of the Seamark portfolio management team responsible for investment policy/strategy, equity research, investment decision making, executing orders, and client servicing. He is a founding member and past President of the Atlantic Chapter of Financial Analysts and a past Director of the Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM). Bob is a native of Saint John, New Brunswick, and is a business graduate of Acadia University.

Tom R. McLaren, Vice-President, Fixed-Income
BBA, FCSI, CFA
Tom McLaren joined Seamark in 1989, bringing 11 years of investment experience to the Seamark management team. Prior to joining Seamark, Tom managed fixed-income portfolios for a major trust company in Toronto. Tom's major focus with the firm remains oriented to the debt markets. As a portfolio manager he is an integral part of the portfolio management team. Tom is a member of AIMR and a founding member and Past President of the Atlantic Canada Chapter of Financial Analysts. Tom is also past Chairman of the Atlantic Region for the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute and currently sits on the National Board of Directors for the Institute. Tom received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1986, and is also a graduate of Acadia University, where he earned a BBA degree majoring in Finance.

George V. Loughery, Vice-President, Research
CGA, CFA
George Loughery joined Seamark in 1996 after gaining 20 years experience in finance and treasury responsibilities with a major industrial concern in Saint John, N.B. George participates in the portfolio management process as both the head of research and as a portfolio manager. George is a member of AIMR and Vice-President of the Atlantic Canada Chapter of Financial Analysts. He received his Certified General Accountant designation in 1980 and his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1993.

Richard W. Fewell, Portfolio Manager
CMA, MBA, CFA
Richard Fewell joined Seamark to focus on the firm’s growing personal wealth management business. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the investment division of a major trust company where he managed investment portfolios and also helped deliver a broad range of estate and trust, international private banking, and taxation services. Richard is a qualified accountant with significant experience in corporate and personal taxation. He brings strong analytical skills to the investment team having spent several years in the corporate banking division of a major financial institution. Richard received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1997 and his Certified Management Accountant designation in 1988. He is a member of the Atlantic Chapter of Financial Analysts and the Society of Management Accountants of Nova Scotia. Richard is a graduate of Dalhousie University, Halifax.
